Children’s Sanctuary is dedicated to delivering bespoke residential care, rooted deeply in relational and nurturing practice. Our approach is built on consistent routines, predictable environments, and supportive relationships that are designed to promote emotional security, holistic development, and positive outcomes for young people with learning disabilities. We offer individualized, structured care, delivered patiently and at each child’s own pace, understanding that progress is often gradual and unique for every young person.
A sanctuary to call home
Our vision at Children’s Sanctuary, including Kestrel House, is to create safe, stable, and nurturing homes where children and young people with learning disabilities and additional needs feel secure, understood, and truly valued. We aim to foster environments of emotional safety, consistency, and belonging, recognising the need for calm, predictable, and low-arousal support for many of our young person to thrive. Every child matters and should be respected, listened to, and supported to build confidence, independence, and self-esteem in line with their preferred communication style and individual needs. Support should reflect each child’s unique abilities, personality, and cultural background. Our specialist, needs-led residential care is grounded in Positive Behaviour Support and low-arousal practice, where behaviour is understood as a form of communication, and support focuses on prevention, understanding, and emotional regulation.

With over 20 years of experience running multiple care homes, the founders of Children's Sanctuary were inspired to extend their dedication to the young community. We recognised a profound need for specialist, compassionate care tailored to children and young people with learning disabilities. Children's Sanctuary was created with the mission to give back and provide the exceptional care and supportive environment these young individuals deserve, ensuring a legacy of positive impact and holistic development.
